What it’s all about

Trying to make sense of the happiness and destruction from the pop 45s released in the 1970s. I guess eventually I will have to create a blog for the 80s, but my doctor said, ‘one decade at a time’

*blogposts contain the title and artist as well as the record label and the year the song peaked on the Top 40 according to Billboard (not the year it was released)

I stumbled across this site, and I am enjoying it immensely. I was born in ’62; I started listening to music in ’72 when I got a little blue transistor radio for Christmas.

In any event, here’s something similar to your confusion over who sang ‘Jazzman’ (Todd Rundgren or Carole King?). I had the same confusion over ‘Magic’ by Pilot when it came out. I remember riding with my sister in the back seat of my Mom’s car trying to figure out if that really was Carol Burnett. Listen to that song and tell me that dude doesn’t sound like Carol Burnett……

    Thanks for the great blog!

Oops – sorry, the Carol Burnett-sounding-guy was in Jigsaw, the song is ‘Sky-High’, not Pilot…

I’m having a blast reading all of the blog posts here! Your sense of humor and turn of phrase has had me laughing all night! I was born in 1961 and absolutely loved all the music that came out of the 70s. I listen to it even now in 2017.
When I encourage some of the younger folks to listen as well, they become immediate fans.
Thanks for this great resource …… I’m still reading and I hope you’ll continue writing!
